Spring & Summer Boat Maintenance

Marine Self In/Out Boat Storage

Jerry’s Majestic Marine makes boating easy with our Summer Indoor Self In/Out Boat Storage program. Just tell us when you want to go out, and your boat and trailer will be ready in our pickup lot—hook up and head straight to the water.

The program runs June 1 – September 30 at $400/month plus tax, paid in full for four months. Boats are stored indoors on your trailer at Jerry’s Majestic Marine.

Our annual in/out storage package offers maximum flexibility, including early morning launches, late-night returns, and overnight hydraulic lift use. Enjoy one launch per day from May 15 – October 15 (excluding July 4, handled by seniority rotation).

• Weekday notice: 3 hours by 2 PM
• Weekend notice: 12 hours
• Launch location: Jerry’s pier in Fontana

Simply return your boat to the shore station when finished, and our crew will handle the rest. Winterization and spring service estimates are billed separately.

Propeller Inspection & Repair

Each winter, professional propeller technicians inspect every prop alongside our service team. Props are checked for blade damage, hub cracks, balance, and alignment. Because imbalance or out-of-round props can only be detected when removed, any repair quote indicates service is necessary.
Unaddressed prop damage can cause vibration, misalignment, and damage to the outdrive, transmission, or engine. If you have experienced vibration and it is not listed, please notify us—it may indicate an alignment issue.

Lake Geneva Note: Water levels can fluctuate up to 24 inches during the season. Shallow areas near sand beaches, Trinke Estates, and Abbey Harbor require slow speeds and slightly raised outdrives to prevent damage.

Outdrive Inspection & Preventive Service

Our outdrive inspections include checking for water or metal in the oil, and evaluating bellows, gimbal bearings, U-joints, and alignment. Quoted repairs are necessary based on inspection findings, and seal repairs may reveal additional issues once disassembled.

If your engine has been running warmer than normal, a worn water pump impeller may be the cause. MerCruiser, Volvo, and OMC recommend replacing the seawater impeller and thermostat every two years or 200 hours. Overheating is one of the leading causes of major engine failure, making this preventive service critical.

Engine Preventive Maintenance

Our service records show that boats receiving routine engine and transmission maintenance experience less downtime and better reliability during the season. Our comprehensive tune-ups help maximize performance, efficiency, and longevity.

Basic Spring Cleaning

A quick refresh that includes an exterior wash, interior surface wipe-down (including windows), and carpet vacuuming.

Basic Detail Package

Includes hull and deck wash, calcium/lime removal, canvas and bimini washing, and deep cleaning of the deck and cabin interior: non-skid, carpet, upholstery, draperies, headliner, vinyl seating, and windows. (Compartments not included.)

Acid Wash & Pressure Wash

Boats with an unpainted bottom kept in the water (not on a hoist) should be acid washed once per year at haul-out so we can remove buildup and inspect the hull for damage. If your boat is bottom painted, we use a pressure wash to remove algae and loose paint—acid can react with bottom paint and may damage surrounding areas. Before applying fresh anti-fouling bottom paint, a pressure wash is required. For boats with outdrives, we acid wash the drive(s) separately to remove algae growth.

Teak Refinishing

Keeping teak looking great takes the right process. We start with careful cleaning to remove dirt and old finish without stripping the wood, then light sanding to smooth raised grain. To achieve a durable, golden finish that lasts the season, we use Sikkens (a premium translucent protective finish) and apply three coats, with minimal sanding between coats. After the initial restoration, annual maintenance refinishing is often significantly less than the original service.

Fiberglass & Gelcoat Care

Fiberglass boats still require maintenance—especially the gelcoat, which can haze, dull, and chalk from sun and UV exposure. If oxidation is neglected too long, the finish can become unsalvageable, and even heavy buffing may not restore it. Our gelcoat protection services help preserve gloss, color, and long-term value.

Ultimate Fiberglass Care Package

This premium detailing package includes a full wash, calcium and lime deposit removal, professional machine polishing/buffing, and hand-applied marine wax. We also detail deck and hull fittings, polish chrome and stainless, clean cabin/cockpit carpet, apply Scotchgard, and repair canvas snaps. Brightwork is polished and protected, helping your boat stay cleaner longer—often making black streaks and grime easier to wipe off. New boats benefit too by maintaining the factory gelcoat gloss.

Important Care Note
After sealing/waxing, use only very mild soap. Do not use alkaline soap—it will strip wax quickly. Annual fiberglass care is strongly recommended to help prevent oxidation.

Sunbrella Canvas Care

Over time, Sunbrella’s water-repellent coating wears down, reducing protection and increasing the risk of moisture and mold under covers. Our canvas care service washes covers and bimini top, then applies a factory water-repellent treatment after the canvas is clean and fully dry. Note: Avoid washing with soap during the season—soap can remove the repellent. Recommended annually.

Bottom Painting

Typically recommended for boats over 27 feet due to ongoing repainting costs. Modern multi-season anti-fouling paints can last 3–4 seasons with fall pressure washes, and while the upfront cost is higher, they often save money over time due to longer coverage.
